CONGRATULATIONS TO MR. JAMES SHIELDS!
James Shields is the new manager of the African American Cultural Arts and History Center in Burlington NC.
Prior to this latest appointment, he served for 20 years as the director of the Bonner Center for Community Service and Learning at Guilford College.
James’ community involvement includes being Chairman of the board for Snow Camp Historical Society, Elimu Empowerment services and the non-profit Motherland International. He currently serves as Vice President of the Piedmont Blues Preservation Society.
For over 20 years he has given numerous dramatic presentations and lectures on the Underground Railroad to local schools and civic groups. James served as one of the lead guides for Underground Railroad tours conducted on the Guilford College campus. He is also known for his work as an actor and director in the drama produced by Snow Camp Outdoor theatre, Pathway to Freedom which depicts the history of the Underground Railroad in Guilford and Alamance counties.
James has been a performing artist for over 40 years in various theatrical productions and currently is a member of the reggae band, Dubfire.

WHAT DO WE DO?
AACAHC actively collects and preserves Alamance County's African-American history in many varied forms; cultural, architectural, artistic, familial, industrial, commercial, and generational. Many individuals who have made a lasting impact on the African-American community have been identified and documented. Unearthing their stories and formats are essential to AACAHC's mission. As a museum and cultural site, the AACAHC is determined to bring to the community all the benefits associated with heritage tourism and a public an institution devoted to education and preservation.
One thing Jane Sellars could not get in her lifetime was a building for the center to house and display the thousands of pieces of local history she wanted the world to see. AACAHC has established a Building Fund in her honor. We are soliciting contributions of any amount to be put toward this project. We are seeking to raise an money in order to lease or purchase a building as a new and permanent home for the AACAHC. Your donation is tax deductible in the USA to the fullest extent of the law.
